Georgia State University’s acceptance rate is around 67%, making it a moderately selective university. This is on-par or slightly more selective than most other public universities in Georgia but higher than private colleges and universities, which tend to have a lower acceptance rate and require a higher GPA and standardized test scores to gain admission.
What GPA do you need to get into Georgia State University?
Like most colleges and universities, Georgia State University considers several factors when admitting incoming first-year and transfer students. Georgia State University requires incoming undergraduate students to provide scores for either the SAT or the ACT. Nearly half of all incoming students had an SAT score between 1000 and 1199, and 80% had an 800 – 1199. Georgia State University offers more than 200 degree and certificate programs in over 100 fields and concentrations of study. These programs include certificates, Associate degrees, Bachelor’s degrees, and Graduate degrees across the twelve schools and colleges at GSU. These include the Andrew Young School of Policy Students, the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, the Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Education and Human Development.
Most Associate degree programs are run through Perimeter College, which is not part of the main GSU campus in downtown Atlanta. Perimeter College is a network of community colleges with campuses in Alpharetta, Clarkston, Decatur, Dunwoody, and Newton under the Georgia State University system that offer Associate degrees as an academic pathway for students pursuing higher education.
The College of Arts and Sciences houses the most GSU students of any academic program, followed by the College of Business and Education and Human Development.
The five most popular undergraduate majors at Georgia State University are Interdisciplinary Studies, Biological Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, and Psychology. Film and Media are also popular among GSU undergraduates, but the program only offers an Associate degree in that concentration.
The five most popular graduate programs at Georgia State are Business Administration (MBA), Social Work, Public Health, Physical Therapy, and Biology. The top Associate degree programs mirror those of the graduate programs, with Business Administration being the most popular, followed by associate programs in the sciences and healthcare.
